KIMURA CELLARS was established by a Japanese winemaker, Shigehisa Kimura (nicknamed Shige), in Marlborough in 2009. He has been driven by pure passion and desire to produce premium wine since then. The wine label of KIMURA CELLARS represents a Koru with a cherry blossom motif. The cherry blossom is a symbol of Japan, just as a Koru is a symbol of New Zealand. The meaning of the Koru on the design of the label represents “harmony” between New Zealand and Japan, as it is made by a Japanese winemaker in New Zealand, and also “new start” and “growth” for KIMURA CELLARS.
