Since 1610, Champagne Paul Déthune’s home and vineyards have been located in the village of Ambonnay, in the Champagne region. This land bears the Grand Cru name of excellence which only 17 villages have the honour to carry. Its reputation is based on its unique expression of Pinot Noir, which combines pleasurably with Chardonnay, the white variety in Champagne. Pierre and his wife Sophie use organic fertilizers and practice sustainable viticulture. The estate is certified “High Environmental Value” (H.V.E.) and “Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne” (V.D.C.). All cuvées are aged in 205-litre champagne barrels and 32-hectolitre oak vats, developing highly complex aromas and textures in the wines. From the seven hectares cultivated by Pierre Déthune, come ten Grand Cru wines – all aged in the estate’s cellars, which were cut out of the chalk in the 17th century.
